Softball Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for Providence Athletic Club

Providence Athletic Club came tearing into Tuesday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Westwood Redhawks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-2 back in March.

Kaylin Otey was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ava Lastinger was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Eden Rose Pound, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Providence Athletic Club's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Westwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Providence Athletic Club didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-4 victory against American Leadership Academy on the 28th. As for Westwood, they have also already played their next match, a 16-0 loss against Saluda on the 29th.
