Basketball Recap: Marcos de Niza Takes a Loss

Marcos de Niza suffered their biggest defeat since December 3rd on Friday. They took a blow against the Sahuaro Cougars, falling 50-17. The Padres just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Marcos de Niza lost, don't look at Elyanna Carbajal. Despite the final result, she posted five points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.

Carly Coolidge continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sahuaro, going 7 of 13 on her way to 16 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Harmony Twito, who put up seven points and four steals.

Marcos de Niza's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Sahuaro, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
