Recap: Indian Rocks Christian Eagles vs. St. Petersburg Catholic Barons
The Indian Rocks Christian Eagles's game last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 38-31 victory over St. Petersburg Catholic. For Indian Rocks Christian, this counts as revenge for the 39-27 defeat the Barons walked away with the last time they faced one another on January 12th.
Indian Rocks Christian was led to victory by Kayleigh Atkinson and Malia Stevens. Atkinson scored six points along with eight steals, while Stevens scored 18 points. It was the first time this season that Atkinson grabbed two or more steals.
St. Petersburg Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from Naomi Thompson and Liv Geritano. Thompson scored 12 points, while Geritano scored ten points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Spoor, who scored four points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
The victory got Indian Rocks Christian back to even at 9-9. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Northside Christian the next time they take the court. Indian Rocks Christian will head out to face the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Barons will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
