Baseball Preview: Mountain Valley Falcons vs. St. Dominic Saints
Mountain Valley hasn't had much luck against St. Dominic recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Falcons will be playing at home against the Saints at 4:00 p.m.
Mountain Valley is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Mount Abram on Friday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roadrunners.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Dominic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Old Orchard Beach by a score of 9-4 on Friday.
Riley Daigle was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Curtis Wheeler, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
St. Dominic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Old Orchard Beach only posted an OBP of .400.
St. Dominic pushed their record up to 2-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain Valley, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
