Volleyball Recap: Westminster Academy Takes a Loss

Westminster Academy was the 3-1 winner over St. John Paul II Academy when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Lions fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday.

Westminster Academy wouldn't go down easily and took St. John Paul II Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking 11-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-18, 22-25, 22-25, 15-4.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. John Paul II Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Meallan Gunther, who had 22 digs and two assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Tomko, who hit 73.1% for 20 kills and 19 digs and ten aces.

Westminster Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for St. John Paul II Academy, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Westminster Academy has already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Spanish River on the 28th. As for St. John Paul II Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 win against American Heritage on the 22nd.
