Baseball Recap: Overton Comes Up Short

Overton came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the White Station Spartans, falling 12-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Wolverines couldn't push the score so high this time.

Overton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julian Tallent, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Tallent has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last five times he's played.

The loss snapped Overton's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-8-1 record. As for White Station, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-10.

Overton and White Station could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. The Wolverines (ranked 242nd) will meet Collierville (ranked second) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, White Station will square off against Houston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (121 vs. 1).
