Baseball Recap: Trinidad Miners vs. Ignacio Bobcats
Trinidad lost a close one when they played on Saturday but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on Saturday was a bit more commanding. They fell victim to a tough 16-7 loss at the hands of the Ignacio Bobcats. Trinidad has not had much luck with Ignacio recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Brett Kendall was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Joey Just, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI.
On Ignacio's side, the team relied heavily on Marcus Maez, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Wade Dunbar-Berger, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Trinidad's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Ignacio, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.
Trinidad will head out on the road to take on South Park at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Ignacio, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nucla at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ignacio knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy run totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Nucla likes a good challenge.
