Softball Recap: Rustburg Comes Up Short

Rustburg managed to slip by Amherst County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Red Devils lost 8-1 to the Lancers on Monday. The Red Devils were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lancers earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Rustburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nahla Bigham, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Rustburg has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Amherst County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Rustburg will take on rival Glass at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Amherst County is set to challenge their familiar foe Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
