Commack extended their winning streak to 18 on Friday, bumping their season record up to 18-0 in the process. They never let the Newfield Wolverines get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The Cougars' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matchups.

Not much got past Kate Schweitzer, who gave up just two hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep Newfield off the board. Schweitzer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emily Kraus, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Shea Ricciardi, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

As for Newfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

On Newfield's side, Jamie Byrnes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.

As of now, neither Commack nor the Wolverines have any future games scheduled.
