Basketball Recap: Oakhaven Triumphs

Oakhaven had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-44 win over the Southaven Chargers.

Ayden Deener was a one-man wrecking crew as he posted 21 points. Those 21 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aamyr Deener, who had seven points.

Southaven lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cameron Hammond, who earned 11 points. Hammond is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Marquise Rice Jr was another key player, putting up ten points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Southaven fell to 2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakhaven will host Soulsville at 7:00 p.m. on December 2. As for Southaven, they will look to defend their home court on December 2 against DeSoto Central at 7:30 p.m. The Chargers will need to watch out since the Jaguars have now posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
