Football Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Homestead's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

It's playoff time, and Homestead had no trouble coming through when it counted. They didn't even let the Nova Titans on the board on Wednesday, marking the Broncos' second-straight 26-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Broncos, who have now won nine games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Homestead's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zakieria Cobb, who rushed for 108 yards and one score on only five carries, and also picked up 42 receiving yards. Those 108 rushing yards gave Cobb a new career-high. Caitylyn Gibson was in the mix as well, providing Homestead with two touchdowns.

Homestead didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Nova to a completion percentage of just 50%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Kiani Graham and Gernaia Davis, who each logged one passes deflected. Homestead wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 82.6%.

Homestead has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 3.3 points on average over those games. As for Nova, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-6.

Homestead didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 26-6 victory against Boyd Anderson on the 28th. Nova does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
