Basketball Recap: Richmond Comes Up Short

If Richmond was riding high fresh off their 57-33 takedown of Fort Wayne South Side last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Richmond Red Devils took a 54-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Batesville Bulldogs on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 88th).

Richmond has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Batesville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Richmond will finish 2024 at home by hosting Purdue Polytechnic at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Batesville, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against East Central at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Batesville is facing East Central at the right time seeing as East Central is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
