Calhoun Academy waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Branchville Yellow Jackets with a sharp 7-1 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-1 on Thursday.

The team relied heavily on Cael Parler, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Knapp, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Calhoun Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive games.

Calhoun Academy pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Branchville, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calhoun Academy will venture away from home to challenge Thomas Sumter Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give Calhoun Academy their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Branchville, they will head out to face off against Bamberg-Ehrhardt at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
