Baseball Game Preview: East Central Trojans vs. Richmond Red Devils

The East Central Trojans will venture away from home to take on the Richmond Red Devils at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. East Central is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Richmond's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Saturday: East Central hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Trojans' pitchers stepped up to hand South Dearborn a 3-0 shutout on Friday.

The team relied heavily on Collin Harrill, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Reynolds, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Richmond came up short against Kokomo on Thursday and fell 4-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Wildkats: they've now lost six in a row.

Richmond's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for East Central, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

Richmond's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: East Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. It's a different story for Richmond, though, as they've only averaged .205. Will they be able to contain East Central's hitters?

East Central couldn't quite get it done against Richmond in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
