Soccer Game Preview: William Byrd vs. Staunton River

The William Byrd Terriers will head out on the road to take on the Staunton River Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

William Byrd is looking to tack another W on to their season record, something they couldn't quite do against Lord Botetourt on Tuesday. Neither the Terriers nor the Cavaliers could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Staunton River and Franklin County have met, but the home crowd finally got their W last Tuesday. The Golden Eagles fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, Staunton River can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Franklin County are ranked third).

Staunton River's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. William Byrd's draw gives them a new season record of 4-2-1.
