Softball Recap: Bay Tornadoes vs. Rutherford Rams

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bay had no problem doing just that on Monday. They blew past the Rutherford Rams 18-8. Considering Bay has won 11 contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Bay got a massive performance out of Nevaeh Childs, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Childs is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Joey'Liz Cruz-Torrales, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

The win was the seventh in a row for Bay, bringing their record for this year to 12-9. As for Rutherford, they are on a 19-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.

Bay will challenge North Bay Haven Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bay knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy run totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully North Bay Haven Academy likes a good challenge. Rutherford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
