Basketball Recap: Twin Valley South Panthers vs. Troy Christian Eagles

This season hasn't been kind to the Twin Valley South Panthers, who are still winless after their 17th game. They took a 65-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Troy Christian on Saturday. If Twin Valley South was looking for revenge after losing 44-29 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Twin Valley South saw an underclassman step up: Kelsie Maggard scored 16 points along with five assists and two steals. It was the first time this season that Maggard scored 15 or more points. Jordan Ritchie was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Twin Valley South were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Brooklyn Lavy was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds for Troy Christian. It was the first time this season that Lavy scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Reign Wilkins, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and six assists.

Twin Valley South will head out on the road to face off against the Mohawks at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Madison focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday. As for Troy Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Graham Local knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully the Eagles like a good challenge.
