Basketball Recap: Cj Hall's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hilliard over Fort White

Hilliard and Fort White squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Hilliard had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Fort White Indians by a score of 62-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (57), the Red Flashes still had to take the loss.

Hilliard lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cj Hall, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 12 points in addition to five boards and five steals. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last four games he's played. Ta'Veon Dunbar was another key player, going 6-for-11 to rack up 14 points.

Fort White's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Jackspn, who went 7-for-14 en route to 20 points. The dominant performance also gave Jackspn a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (75%). Another player making a difference was Tafari Moe, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 16 points.

Hilliard's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Fort White, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 15-9.

Hilliard does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fort White, they will square off against Crossroad Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 26th. Fort White is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season.
