Baseball Game Preview: Desert Vista Thunder vs. Millennium Tigers

The Desert Vista Thunder will square off against the Millennium Tigers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Desert Vista is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Desert Vista is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Hamilton, who was ranked second at the time (Desert Vista was ranked 13th). The Thunder fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 8-7 on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Benjamin Romaine made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Millennium made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cesar Chavez on Thursday. The Tigers came out on top against the Champions by a score of 11-7.

Aden Beard looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Cy Buchberger was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Josue Malave was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Millennium always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cesar Chavez only posted an OBP of .387.

Millennium's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Desert Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.
