Basketball Game Preview: Whitmer Panthers vs. University of Detroit Jesuit Cubs

The Whitmer Panthers will head out to square off against the University of Detroit Jesuit Cubs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Whitmer is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Springfield 85-68 on Friday. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Blue Devils are ranked 418th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, University of Detroit Jesuit put another one in the bag on Sunday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Old Redford Academy by a score of 74-66.

University of Detroit Jesuit pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Whitmer, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Whitmer and University of Detroit Jesuit were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January of 2023, but Whitmer came up empty-handed after a 71-70 defeat. Can Whitmer avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
