Baseball Game Preview: Eisenhower Cadets vs. Wenatchee Panthers

For the second straight game, Eisenhower will face off against Wenatchee. The Cadets will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Eisenhower has struggled recently with eight losses in a row, while Wenatchee will arrive with four straight wins.

Eisenhower fell victim to Wenatchee and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers.

For Wenatchee's part, Nolan Godfrey made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Godfrey a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Ryko Hamilton looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Wenatchee's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 3-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Owen Ervin, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Wenatchee: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

Eisenhower's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Wenatchee, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
