2A Conference 9 recap November 13, 2013

Monroe added to the longest winning streak in 2A Conference 9 this week by beating Forest Hills, 40-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Redhawks.

Monroe took down the Yellowjackets 40-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Parkwood's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Grey Wyrick threw for 35 and 1 touchdown and Sam Mobley had 35 yards receiving. On the ground Bryant Ferguson-Springs contributed 177 yards.

Ferguson-Springs provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Rebels defeated Central Academy. Ferguson-Springs' key target this week was Mobley, who caught 2 passes for 35 yards.

Wyrick put up the best numbers in passing as Parkwood topped the Cougars.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Lynn Coble's team's Wyrick and Mobley have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Wyrick has thrown for 1,443 yards this season, while Mobley has 45 catches for 862 yards. Forest Hills' Jared Lee leads the league in rushing yards with 1,021.

Mount Pleasant made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,200 from 6,412. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 23-7 victory over West Stanly last week.
