Basketball Recap: Dijona Berrien's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Simeon over Rich Township

Simeon lost against Rich Township back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Simeon Wolverines fell 47-34 to the Rich Township Raptors.

Simeon lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dijona Berrien, who posted 11 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Berrien is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Janiya Pillow, who put up nine points and five steals.

It was another big night for Sherrie Emmons, who went 9 for 15 en route to 25 points in addition to seven boards and three steals for Rich Township. Naairah Ali was another key player, putting up six points.

Simeon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Rich Township, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-6.

Simeon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-33 defeat against Saint Ignatius College Prep on the 18th. As for Rich Township, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-31 victory against Thornwood on the 16th.
