Softball Preview: Page Pirates vs. Northwest Guilford Vikings

Page is 0-10 against Northwest Guilford since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Page Pirates are on the road again to play the Northwest Guilford Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Northwest Guilford took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Page, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Page earned a 7-3 win over Ragsdale. The victory was just what Page needed coming off of a 17-2 defeat in their prior matchup.

Emily Gilchrist made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Gilchrist was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, a triple, and a run.

In other batting news, Keller Aucoin was excellent, going 3-for-4 with a stolen base, a double, and an RBI. Another player making a difference was Aniya Davis, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Northwest Guilford unfortunately witnessed the end of their 13-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Oak Grove by a score of 4-3.

Northwest Guilford saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nevaeh Scott, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Northwest Guilford didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with eight strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Grove only tossed four.

Page's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-7. As for Northwest Guilford, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 13-1.
