Recap: Sand Rock Wildcats vs. Spring Garden Panthers
After a string of five wins, the Sand Rock Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. The match between Sand Rock and Spring Garden wasn't particularly close, with Sand Rock falling 64-46. While losing is never fun, Sand Rock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Spring Garden is ranked 14th).
Loss or not, Sand Rock got some senior leadership from Kennedy Henderson and Katelyn St.clair. Henderson scored ten points along with five rebounds, while St.clair. scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Zoey Handy, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Sand Rock's loss dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Spring Garden, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 23-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sand Rock and Fyffe will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Spring Garden, they will head out on the road to square off against Coosa Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
