Softball Recap: Dothan Comes Up Short

Dothan fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Enterprise on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jada Newman put in work while hitting and pitching. She pitched 7.2 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Newman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Savanna Kendrick made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Dothan's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-9-1. As for Enterprise, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dothan will take on Hewitt-Trussville in a tournament on Friday. As for Enterprise, they will be taking part in a tournament against Carroll at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
