Baseball Recap: Orcas Island Takes a Loss

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Orcas Island and Mount Vernon Christian had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Vikings came up short against the Hurricanes on Thursday, falling 13-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hurricanes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 last Tuesday.

Orcas Island dropped their record down to 3-7 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Mount Vernon Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Looking ahead, Orcas Island will be playing in front of their home fans against Darrington at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Vikings are facing the Loggers at the right time seeing as the Loggers are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Mount Vernon Christian, they are taking a road trip to face off against Concrete at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something the Hurricanes will no doubt try to take advantage of.
