Softball Recap: New Castle Starts Season with Victory Against Hopewell

New Castle took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Everything went their way against the Hopewell Vikings as the New Castle Hurricanes made off with a 13-6 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hurricanes also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Mikayla DiGennaro, who went 3-for-4 with eight RBI, two triples, and two runs. Keara Mangieri was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

New Castle wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 6-5 win against Union Area on the 11th. Hopewell will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Deer Lakes at 4:00 p.m. on March 27th.
