Baseball Game Preview: Olive Branch Conquistadors vs. Memphis Home Education Association

The Olive Branch Conquistadors will face off against Memphis Home Education Association at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

Olive Branch came up short against Saltillo on Friday, falling 14-2. The loss continues a trend for the Conquistadors in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Memphis Home Education Association made easy work of Millington Central on Friday and carried off a 13-5 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Memphis Home Education Association has posted against Millington Central since March 13, 2018.

Luke Sanders and Jayce Griffith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Sanders pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Meanwhile, Griffith tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. At bat, Sanders scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Griffith scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Sanders has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Ross Penny and Lucas Dennis did most of the damage at the plate: Penny scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Dennis scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Dennis has become a key player for Memphis Home Education Association: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Long, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Memphis Home Education Association kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.8.

Olive Branch's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Memphis Home Education Association, they now have a winning record of 7-6-1.
