Baseball Game Preview: Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers vs. Central Cambria Red Devils

The Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers will square off against the Central Cambria Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Westmont Hilltop has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Westmont Hilltop took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Bedford, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hilltoppers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Bisons on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Hilltoppers' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

The team relied heavily on Bryce Goodman, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Central Cambria hadn't done well against Richland recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Red Devils blew past the Rams 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Brayden Blasko was excellent, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Pittsinger, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Westmont Hilltop's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-8. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Central Cambria, they moved to 11-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
