Basketball Recap: Make It Eight in a Row for Nimitz

Nimitz had won seven straight games and Aniah Richard did her part to make it eight on Wednesday. The Nimitz Cougars blew past the Eisenhower Eagles, posting a 65-24 win thanks in part to Richard, who went 13 for 21 en route to 32 points and seven steals. The match was her sixth in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Alayia Hutchinson, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Those five assists gave her a new career-high.

Nimitz is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Eisenhower, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-20.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Nimitz Cougars duke it out with the Spring Lions at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Nimitz's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests. As for Eisenhower, they are taking a road trip to face off against Aldine at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Eisenhower is facing Aldine at the right time seeing as Aldine is stuck on a 22-game losing streak.
