Football Preview: Conifer Lobos vs. Eagle Valley Devils

Conifer is 3-0 against Eagle Valley since October of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Conifer Lobos will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagle Valley Devils at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Last Friday, Conifer was fully in charge, breezing past George Washington 54-14 on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lobos.

Benson White had an outrageously good game as he threw for 376 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 15.7 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Carston Wolanske, who rushed for 145 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.

Conifer wouldn't let George Washington keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Wolanske, Mason Murphy, and Murphy picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eagle Valley). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Littleton 78-8 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 58-8.

Eagle Valley found their leader in underclassman Colter Blakey, who threw for 171 yards and five touchdowns on only nine passes. Trevor Dunn was Blakey's top target, picking up 41 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground.

Conifer now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Eagle Valley, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Everything came up roses for Conifer against Eagle Valley in their previous meeting back in September of 2023 as the squad secured a 37-6 victory. Will Conifer repeat their success, or does Eagle Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
