Basketball Recap: Ethan Overdorf's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Healdsburg over Middletown

Healdsburg was the 57-46 winner over Middletown when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Healdsburg Greyhounds took a 73-57 bruising from the Middletown Mustangs on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 827th, while the Mustangs are ranked 283rd).

Healdsburg's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Overdorf, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Overdorf is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Thatcher Little, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points.

Even though they lost, Healdsburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Healdsburg's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Middletown, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Healdsburg will welcome Cloverdale at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Healdsburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season. As for Middletown, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-44 defeat against St. Vincent de Paul on the 2nd.
