The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Long Branch has struggled recently with 20 losses in a row, while Point Pleasant Boro will arrive with three straight victories.
Long Branch suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Neptune by a score of 51-49. Long Branch has struggled against Neptune recently, as their match on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Point Pleasant Boro was able to grind out a solid victory over South River on Saturday, taking the game 58-48. Given Point Pleasant Boro's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while South River is ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Long Branch bumped their record down to 0-11 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Point Pleasant Boro, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
