Baseball Game Preview: Pearland Oilers vs. Angleton Wildcats

The Pearland Oilers will take on the Angleton Wildcats in a tournament on Thursday. Angleton took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Pearland, who comes in off a win.

Pearland is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Monday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over George Ranch.

Brayden Veach looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

At the plate, Aidan Avalos was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Cade Adams was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Angleton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Foster. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wildcats have suffered since March 8, 2024.

Kade Dobbs was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Dobbs wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kade Estrada, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Pearland beat Angleton 10-5 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Pearland repeat their success, or does Angleton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
