Basketball Recap: Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Comes Up Short

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 67-27 loss at the hands of Southland College Prep. The Hawks lost against Southland College Prep in their previous head to head back in December of 2017, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 58-49 score last time.

Southland College Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mavryck Ford, who posted ten points and four steals. Robert Boyd Jr. was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Southland College Prep, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hammond Academy of Science & Tech will take on Kouts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kouts knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matches -- so hopefully Hammond Academy of Science & Tech likes a good challenge. As for Southland College Prep, they will challenge Francis W. Parker at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
