Volleyball Recap: Pitman's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Pitman waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Gregori Jaguars 3-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

One reason for the win was Pitman's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-12, 25-11.

Pitman's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aila Reich, who had 12 digs and two aces. Reich is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Nicoletta Dowd, who had 12 assists and five digs.

They weren't the only good servers: Pitman was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive matchups.

When it comes to explaining why Gregori lost, don't look at Izzy Watson. Despite the final result, she had eight kills and two aces.

Pitman's record now sits at 25-9. As for Gregori, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-14.

Pitman has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Turlock on the 21st. As for Gregori, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Downey on the 21st.
