Basketball Recap: A.C. Reynolds Takes a Loss

A.C. Reynolds was the 45-44 winner over Cherokee when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The A.C. Reynolds Rockets had to suffer through a 83-52 loss at the hands of the Cherokee Braves.

A.C. Reynolds lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Addie Long, who went 5 for 11 en route to 10 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Adalyn Wilkinson, who posted ten points along with six boards and four steals.

Cherokee found their leader in sophomore Aaliyah Rogers, who went 11 of 18 on her way to 24 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. With that strong performance, Rogers is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Joscelyn Stamper was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards.

A.C. Reynolds' loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Cherokee, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season.

A.C. Reynolds wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 75-52 win against Asheville on the 31st. As for Cherokee, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-24 victory against Hayesville on the 31st.
