West Jersey - National recap September 24, 2013
Pennsauken moved up to 125 from 176 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in West Jersey - National. The Indians were able to move up by besting Cherry Hill East 48-7.
Kingsway led the league in scoring this week by notching 55 points on Deptford.
Deyon Edwards and Marquan Jones gave Pennsauken a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Edwards threw for 14 yards, while Jones ran for 153 yards. Teammate LaShun Morris added to the ground attack by rushing for 46 yards.
Edwards and Jones gave Clinton Tabb III's team a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week.
Jones was a passing and rushing force as the Indians beat the Cougars. Jones' favorite target this week was Edward Holmes, who caught 2 passes for 46 yards.
Brandon Pagan was the best receiver in the league this week as Triton lost to Cherokee. Pagan tallied 2 receptions for 50 yards.
Edwards put up the best numbers through the air as Pennsauken topped Cherry Hill East.
Jones was the most successful running back in West Jersey - National this week.
The Indians' Tyee White and Edwards have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. White has thrown for 237 yards this season, while Edwards, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 3 catches for 95 yards. Shawnee's DiOrio Anthony leads the league in rushing yards with 183.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Triton takes on second place Shawnee. The Mustangs fell to the Chiefs last week, while the Renegades lost to Williamstown.
Pennsauken made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,779 from 6,258. The improvement was the result of 48-7 victory over Tom Coen's team last week.
