Softball Recap: Cliffside Park Victorious

Cliffside Park proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 16) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Teaneck Highwaymen 8-6. While the Red Raiders didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The team relied heavily on Brooke Blaikie, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Khloe Bielins, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Cliffside Park lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Cliffside Park's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Teaneck, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cliffside Park will face off against Clifton at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Red Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Teaneck, they will square off against Hawthorne at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
