Softball Recap: Branham Has No Trouble Against Notre Dame

Branham had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 10-1 margin over the Notre Dame Regents. That nine run margin sets a new team best for the Bruins this season.

Jacque Connolly - Hojas made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Connolly - Hojas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other pitching news, Taylor Bugliarello looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Sydney Short, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Kaitlyn Douglas was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Branham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Notre Dame only posted an OBP of .211.

Branham's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Notre Dame, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Branham will venture away from home to face off against Wilcox at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Notre Dame, they will take on Presentation in a tournament on Monday.
