Basketball Recap: Fairmont Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

After losing to Worthington the last time they met, Fairmont decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Fairmont Cardinals took down the Worthington Trojans 65-48 on Friday. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Trojans are ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fairmont is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Worthington, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Coincidentally, Fairmont and Worthington will both be playing Marshall the next time they take the court. Fairmont will head out to face Marshall at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Worthington will host them at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
