Baseball Recap: Frankfort Takes a Loss

Frankfort extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-12 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the DuQuoin Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 two weeks ago.

As for DuQuoin, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

For DuQuoin's part, Luke Bauman and Tilden Henderson did most of the damage at the plate: Bauman went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs, while Henderson went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Bauman is becoming a predictor of the Indians' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 9-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cy Craft, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Frankfort wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 6-4 loss against Zeigler-Royalton on the 23rd. As for DuQuoin, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-5 victory against Steeleville on the 23rd.
