Basketball Game Preview: Linganore Lancers vs. Frederick Cadets

The Linganore Lancers and the Frederick Cadets will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Linganore came up short against Oakdale and fell 52-44. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cory Clark, who posted ten points along with seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Donaldson, who earned ten points.

Even though they lost, Linganore smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Frederick was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 71-65 to Governor Thomas Johnson.

Linganore now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Frederick, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Linganore suffered a grim 53-31 defeat to Frederick when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Frederick's JJ Addison, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 20 points. Now that Linganore knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
