Football Preview: Monticello Mustangs vs. Albemarle Patriots
Monticello has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will host the Albemarle Patriots at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Monticello's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed by Charlottesville on the road to the tune of 53-0. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Ezekiel ?Zeke? Pour, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 108 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Ian Feggans, who rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown.
Monticello wouldn't let Charlottesville keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. Monticello can thank Tyjon Jones and Feggans for forcing all of them. Cyrus Smith was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks and making six total tackles.
Meanwhile, Albemarle had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They claimed a resounding 27-0 win over Goochland at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Patriots have posted since October 20, 2023.
Monticello's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Albemarle, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
