The West Boca Raton Bulls will head out on the road to face off against the Boca Raton Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
West Boca Raton took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Olympic Heights.
Gavin Russell tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alejandro Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Godfrey, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Boca Raton duked it out with Royal Palm Beach on Monday. The Bobcats blew past the Wildcats 7-1. The Bobcats not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since February 14th.
Chase Walls spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Dylan Zidar and Jordan Davis did most of the damage at the plate: Zidar scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Davis scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Aidan Donnelly was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
West Boca Raton's record now sits at 9-13. As for Boca Raton, their record is now 5-18.
Everything went West Boca Raton's way against Boca Raton when the teams last played back in February, as West Boca Raton made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulls since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
