Basketball Recap: Benedictine Comes Up Short

The Benedictine Bengals were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 52-46 to the Bedford Bearcats.

When it comes to explaining why Benedictine lost, don't look at Stephon Bohanon. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryant Duffy, who earned eight points and 15 boards.

Leading Bedford to victory were Aaron Mcguinea and Kevin Woodgett. Mcguinea went 7-for-12 on his way to 21 points and seven rebounds, while Woodgett shot 46% from the field to rack up 19 points. Mcguinea is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. Zymond Bell was another key player, putting up four points and seven boards.

Benedictine now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Bedford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Looking ahead, Benedictine will head out to take on Trinity at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bedford, they will host Cleveland Central Catholic at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
