Recap: Union Academy Cardinals vs. Charlotte Latin Hawks

If the Union Academy Cardinals were riding high off their 75-35 takedown of the Albemarle Bulldogs last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The match between Union Academy and Charlotte Latin wasn't particularly close, with Union Academy falling 64-47. While losing is never fun, Union Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 537th, while Charlotte Latin is ranked 174th).

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aidan Scruitsky, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Everett Wease, who scored four points along with six assists.

He wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Union Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. This was only their ninth loss (out of 12 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Union Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Charlotte Latin, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union Academy will stay at home for another game and welcome South Stanly at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. South Stanly is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Charlotte Latin won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Charlotte Country Day School at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. One thing working in Charlotte Country Day School's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
