Preview: Carlinville Cavaliers vs. North Mac Panthers
Carlinville is 0-10 against North Mac since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Carlinville Cavaliers' road trip will continue as they head out to face the North Mac Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Carlinville posted their biggest victory yet this season on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mt. Olive 48-15 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-2.
Carlinville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dom Alepra led the charge by scoring 15 points. Camden Naugle was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
North Mac fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Astoria/VIT 49-20 at home. 49 seems to be a good number for North Mac as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Carlinville's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for North Mac, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
Carlinville came up short against North Mac in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 60-47. Can Carlinville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
