Softball Game Preview: Prospect Knights vs. Mundelein Mustangs

Prospect hasn't had much luck against Mundelein recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Knights will head out on the road to take on the Mustangs at 4:45 p.m. Prospect will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

While Prospect didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They skirted past Glenbrook South 5-3.

Meanwhile, Mundelein waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Patriots.

Sophia Zepeda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Emily Courtney and Claire Connelly did most of the damage at the plate: Courtney scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Connelly went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Prospect's record now sits at 5-0. As for Mundelein, their record is now 8-1.

Prospect couldn't quite get it done against Mundelein in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
